Welcome to Broceni CC

Broceni Carbon Capture (Broceni CC) – Latvia’s first carbon capture facility and the next major milestone in the transformation of sustainable cement production. 

Broceni CC is an integral part of SCHWENK Latvija cement plant in Broceni, one of Europe’s most modern, technologically advanced, climate and environmentally responsible cement production facilities.  Since 2010, the plant has been producing more than one million tons of cement annually, supplying high-quality products to customers in Latvia, Estonia, Sweden, and Finland. Every day, our cement helps lay the foundation for homes, cities, public spaces, roads, and bridges across the region. 

Sustainability is the core of our development. With annual investments of approximately EUR 14 million since 2019, we have continuously reduced the climate impact of cement production, making our operations more environmentally friendly than ever before. 

Now it is time for the next step. 

Starting in 2032, Broceni CC will capture CO₂ from our production process using innovative carbon capture technologies. This will not only prevent up to 800,000 tonnes of CO₂ from entering the atmosphere each year. It will reshape the industry and open new horizons.  

As cement forms the foundation of the construction value chain, captured CO₂ will become a valuable resource and the cornerstone of a completely new industry. This transformation will create thousands of opportunities for companies, strengthen national economies, and contribute to a more sustainable future by reducing climate and environmental impacts.
